Full professor of Chemical Engineering at the Department of Biotechnology, University of Verona, Italy

Franco Cecchi was full professor of Chemical Engineering at the Department of Biotechnology, University
of Verona, Italy (www.univr.it) (retired since 1st November 2016). Moreover, he was Elected President of
the Italian University Consortium for Environmental Chemistry and Technology (www.incaweb.org) and
Director of the “Master in Chemical Engineering for Wastewater Treatment and Renewable Energy”, coshared by seven Italian Universities.


His activity is mainly related to: anaerobic digestion for energy and matter recovery from biowaste
(OFMSW), sludge, and agricultural by-products; chemical-physical treatments for both municipal and
industrial wastewaters with particular emphasis on use of membrane bioreactors for nutrients and
micropollutants removal; environmental monitoring. He authored and co-authored more than 120
scientific papers published on international journals plus books and specific books chapters, patents. He
contributed with presentations at hundreds international and Italian specialized conferences. As for data
in the Web of Science the total citations are about 2300 and the corresponding H index is 27 (2014).


Beside his Academic activity he also was part of Scientific Committees operating for the Ministry for
Environment and the Ministry for Public Works, the National Environmental Protection Agency (ANPA) and ECOMONDO. Moreover, he is past elected representative for South Europe in the Anaerobic Digestion
Specialist Group of the International Water Association.
