Municipal water treatment plants´ future in the speech by world-famous scientist Professor Willy Verstraete
.Rimini, 6th november 2016 . Among the most eagerly awaited contents at ECOMONDO 2016, are those to be found in the new Global Water Expo section, where innovative technology, projects and know-how regarding the water industry will combine perfectly with the circular economy viewpoint, which will distinguish Rimini Fiera´s international expo.
Particularly eagerly awaited, the flagship event of Global Water Expo on 9th November will host the presentation of the international innovation that realizes concepts of circular economy in existing municipal wastewater treatment plants, putting utilities and the water industry, which recovers resources and the chemical and material industry, which re-uses recovered material, in the same value chain.
In the morning, under the chairmanship of the director of the Ministry for the Environment Gaia Checchucci, and the director of the European Water Plaform Durk Krol, major Italian stakeholders, key players on the circular market of the water sector, will alternate. Concluding the morning session, a speech by professor emeritus Willy Verstraete, world-famous scientist and president of the International Water Association´s Cluster for Resource Recovery from municipal water treatment facilities. Verstraete will take part with a speech entitled From ´waste´ to ´used´ water treatment plants: towards resource recovery facilities.
In the afternoon, Prof. Francesco Fatone, of ECOMONDO´s scientific committee will chair the technical session that will present the water treatment plants of Carbonera (Italy), Athens (Greece), Uithuizermeeden (Holland), Manresa (Spain) and Karmiel (Israel) where, in the context of the Horizon2020 ´SMART-Plant´ Innovation Action European (coordinated by Fatone), cellulose, biopolymers, phosphorus and nitrogen are recovered, and then used in the chemical industry to manufacture biocomposites, additives and asphalt, closing the circular value chain.
Global Water Expo is the result of a partnership between ECOMONDO and UTILITALIA, which addresses companies and professionals operating in all stages of the integrated water cycle and brings together in a single event the first 100 national utilities, ESCos, industry and technologists, who will be able to gather and meet manufacturers of the most avant-garde technology and network on matters of innovation, sustainability and regulations, as well as the sector´s new national and international markets for development and investment.
