BlueMissionMed: Powering the EU Mission Ocean and Waters in the Mediterranean

This high-energy opening session marks the official launch of the EU Mission Mediterranean Lighthouse yearly event within the EU Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030. The session will feature keynote interventions from the European Commission, the presentation of the BlueMissionMed Coordination and Support Action for the Mediterranean Lighthouse. It will set the tone for the week, celebrating Mediterranean cooperation and innovation while inviting all participants to engage with the Mission’s goals. In this context, we will also honour the City of Rimini - a Mission partner and one of the key members of the Coalition of Cities, Regions, and Islands - for its strong commitment to sustainability and innovation. The session will conclude with a forward-looking call to action, highlighting how the Mediterranean Lighthouse contributes to shaping key European and regional policy frameworks, including the forthcoming European Ocean Pact and the New Mediterranean Pact, while presenting the main activities of the week that support their implementation.
