Draghi's report on the future of competitiveness and Letta's report on the internal market have set new challenges for Europe, recognising the circular economy a strategic role in the path towards energy transition and decarbonisation. Not only that, improving circularity means improving competitiveness, efficiency in the management of resources and strategic autonomy with respect to their supply.
To pursue these goals, the European Commission is working on the ‘Circular Economy Act’.
The legislative proposal, starting from the problem of scarce resources and noting the global level at which companies now compete, should provide the necessary tools to fully develop the potential of European industry in circular economy sectors through integration into the single market. Through an open discussion between all the actors of the supply chain (institutions and industry), the conference aims to reflect on the possible enabling factors for this transition.
