Event
The development of advanced technologies and innovative tools to identify, characterize, prevent, and manage natural risks such as landslides, floods, and other hydrogeological events, at various scales are becoming an important issue, mainly because of the consequences and impacts of ongoing climate change. These should be strongly emphasized on benefiting rural and small communities that are often highly exposed to such risks.
With these objects, the Goal 1 and Goal 2 have been proposed within the Spoke 1 – “Circular technologies to mitigate geo-hydrological and forest fire risks”, that is one of the six Spokes of the Tech4You Innovation Ecosystem, funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research through the Next Generation EU program. Globally, Tech4You focuses on creating innovative solutions to mitigate the impacts of climate change and enhance quality of life.
In particular, the activities of Goal 1 “Technologies and Multi-Scale Tools for Landslide Risk Prevention” implement the construction and circular integration of multi-scale, interoperable, and updatable databases within demonstrators (on-site laboratories) equipped with advanced sensors and interdisciplinary digital platforms that support methodological approaches and the expert use of models for the generation and transfer of knowledge aimed at the quantitative assessment and sustainable management of landslide risk.
The activities of Goal 2 “Models and Technologies for Hydraulic and Geo-Hydrological Risk Management” include climate services for better planning and management of hydrogeological risks, integrated modelling systems for flood monitoring, and advanced flood propagation models. Real-time forecasting systems, employing artificial intelligence and smartphone communication, enable the assessment of structural vulnerabilities during flood events.
All these resources of the two Goals can support decision-making for prevention strategies, contributing to improved territorial safety.
