THE GREEN ECONOMY IN EUROPE AND ITALY: GOOD REASONS NOT TO BACKTRACK
Presentation of the Report on the State of the Green Economy 2025
Edo Ronchi, President, Fondazione per lo sviluppo sostenibile
The 2025 Report will provide an updated overview of key strategic themes in the green economy: renewable energy transition, energy efficiency, circular economy, regenerative bioeconomy and organic agriculture, restoration of natural capital, and sustainable mobility. It will also offer a reflection on the European green economy in the new global context marked by increasing geopolitical tensions and heightened competition, including the tariff policies introduced by President Trump. In this scenario, the European Union, despite necessary adjustments, should firmly maintain its course toward an unavoidable transition to a green economy - decarbonized, circular, and regenerative of natural capital - for both sustainability and economic competitiveness.
Panel discussion:
Paolo Gentiloni, Co-Chair, UN Task Force on Debt Crisis
Lucrezia Reichlin, Professor of Economics, London Business School
Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, Minister of Environment and Energy Security
