Smart Circular Cities. Smart technologies to meet the challenges of circular transition in urban settings

Circular & Healthy City District - Workshop Area Hall D3

The adoption of circular models for territorial development and resource management presents serious challenges for cities, which must increasingly ensure efficient use of resources (land, water, energy), effective waste management (including monitoring of collection and disposal, and urban mining), in order to reduce environmental impact, and an ongoing commitment to encouraging low-impact mobility that makes streets safer, more inclusive and livable places.  Another key priority is the regeneration and enhancement of disused areas.

The use of interoperable systems and smart platforms based on AI, IoT, and GIS technologies represents one of the key strategies to implement circular transition processes and make urban environments more efficient and sustainable.

In this session, a panel of academic experts, practitioners and promoters of enabling technologies will address these and other challenges posed to decision-makers and public administrators by the need to rethink territories and their management, according to an approach consistent with the principles of the circular bioeconomy.
