CALL FOR PAPERS

The agricultural water supply systems play a fundamental role in ensuring food security and safety, human health, economic growth and several ecosystems added values. On the other hand, the impact of climate changes on water availability is more and more negatively affecting the irrigated agriculture, that represents more than 50% of the Italian water consumptions (around 70% at Mediterranean level). Drought events and water shortage periods are even more frequents, with evident economic, social and environmental downbreaks.

To cope with this big issue, the combined and optimised exploitation of key water infrastructures (such as dams, reservoirs, big aqueducts), together with sustainable water management practices (i.e., smart/precise irrigation) and safe reuse of non-conventional water (i.e., treated wastewater) has to be achieved within a integated water planning.

The workshop will address these issues by presenting up-to-date policies and tools, case-studies, knowledge and solutions.
