Organized by: Ecomondo Scientific Technical Committee & Water Europe

The degree of water scarcity and its political, economic and social implications are felt much more severely in regions like the Mediterranean, where climate change is coming at a very high pace. In the last 50 years, the total water demand has doubled as a result of demographic pressure and from the development of water-intensive activities, such as tourism and manufacturing. Water quantity and quality challenges together with proper strategies for integrated water management, considering irrigation, energy production, and domestic and industrial use, need to be properly addressed. International collaboration and innovation actions are preferable mechanism to tackle these challenges from technical and socio-economic point of view. In the morning this workshop will gather the final main results of relevant EU-funded projeSTC which developed and validated demonstrative and full scale solutions. In the afternoon, industrial case studies for alternative water sources and risk management will be presented
