The workshop “Women entrepreneurship Green tech” aims at raising awareness regarding the policies and support measures put in place to strengthen the presence of women in leading enterprises in the green tech sector, that encompasses a wide area of scientific research, including energy, atmospheric science, agriculture, material science, and hydrology. While the female employment rate has increased to 67.3% (Eurostat, 2020), just 34.4% of the self-employed are women, 31% of those working as start-up entrepreneurs (Female entrepreneurs – women in enterprises: Motivation, work-life balance, challenges, 2017). Data shows that women continue to be under-represented among Doctoral graduates in the majority of narrow STEM fields (She figures, 2021). Therefore, less women are employed in STEM work’s fields after the cycle of studies. However there are lots of networks and initiatives that boost women’s presence in those sectors. This workshop will be the opportunity to show and engage projects, people and actions towards a more strong presence of women in the green tech sectors.
