Funding a green future for Europe
This year the European Commission took part in Ecomondo 2021 with several activities.
In particular, CINEA – the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency– hosted a series of thematic sessions as part of the Ecomondo official events programme.
In addition, EU funded projects from different programmes showcased their results and solutions at the EU Stand:
- The LIFE programme
LIFE is the EU’s funding instrument for the environment and climate action. Created in 1992, it has co-financed thousands of projects.
- European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF)
The EMFAF supports the European Green Deal and a sustainable blue economy by implementing actions in the field of the Union’s Maritime Policy, the Common Fisheries Policy, and the EU international ocean governance agenda.
- Horizon Europe’s Societal Challenge on Smart and Sustainable Transport
This programme develops solutions and services for clean, competitive, safe, smart and resilient transport and mobility.
- Connecting Europe Facility for Transport (CEF Transport)
CEF Transport supports Europe’s transport infrastructure policy by helping implement key projects across Europe.
Besides, a number of CINEA representatives from some of the programmes mentioned above and from the Just Transition Mechanism (JTM) were phisically or remotely available at the stand:
- The Just Transition Mechanism is a key tool to ensure that the transition towards a climate-neutral economy happens fairly, leaving no one behind.
Visitors also had the chance to meet European Commission representatives for one-to-one meetings on funding opportunities
