Organized by: Ecomondo Scientific-Technical Committee & Italian Geotechnical Society

In the context of environmental issues such as contaminated sites, landfills or waste materials, geotechnical engineering skills play an essential role in the design and construction of waste disposal by landfills, remediation technologies and reuse of waste materials. The first part of the conference is dedicated to some of the peculiar analyses required for the correct design of landfills and remediation of polluted sites, such as the analysis of contaminant migration, geotechnical stability, and health-environmental risk. The second part concerns the performance of different materials involved in the field of geo-environmental engineering (e.g. barrier materials, reactive materials, dredged sediments, soils from excavations), to highlight their advantages, limits and correct use or treatment, in the light of the most recent scientific developments and application experiences.
