The collection, recovery and recycling of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap’s sector, which has always been the driving force of the circular economy, is told in this study, which takes a snapshot of recovery facilities, evaluating their numbers in terms of balance sheets, investments and positioning economic.
These companies guarantee the supply of strategic raw materials for the industrial activity of our country. They move and operate in the macroeconomic and daily market context, aiming of professionalism and high quality of the product obtained, ensuring a widespread Scrap Collection and Recovery Service throughout the national territory, enhancing the infinite recyclability of metals and allowing using material from recycle in new industrial processes to replace virgin raw materials.
ASSOFERMET, established in 1948, is the National Association of entrepreneurs who carry out the activity of commerce and pre-processing in the Steel, Metal, Scrap and Hardware Sectors. The Association represents about 500 companies generating an aggregated annual turnover of about 32 billion €.
ASSOFERMET Rottami (Scrap) represents the Authorized Italian Companies operating in the sector of Collection, Recovery, Recycling and Trade of ferrous scrap. The member companies carry out accurate sorting, selection, shearing, pressing and crushing processes based on authorized and controlled industrial processes and daily support the national iron and steel industry and the Italian foundries. ASSOFERMET Metalli (Metals) groups, at national level, companies working in the sector of trade and distribution of non-ferrous metals, from raw to semi-finished products, as well as operators in the sector of collection, recovery, recycling and trade in non-ferrous scrap, that supply the Italian Secondary Metallurgy. The role of these companies is irreplaceable in the protection of the environment and the territory, also supporting the national energy policies, in fact the collection and recovery/recycling of scrap constitutes an eternally renewable source of raw material destined for remelting/refining, saving Energy and huge resources for the planet.
