The international green economy business is heading for Chengdu. Thanks also to the commitment of Italian Exhibition Group (IEG), the capital of Sichuan (southwest China), the 2019 Chengdu Environmental Protection Expo (CDEPE) welcomed an increasing number of Chinese and international enterprises and buyers of the circular economy and green technology.

  • 403 exhibitors and co-exhibitors

The European Commission's priority commitments for the Green and Circular economy marked the the 15th edition of the event, which concluded on 23 March at the Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center in Chengdu.

Thanks to the expertise of Ecomondo, IEG’s leading European expo on circular economy and sustainability, CDEPE for the first time presented the public its new format of an international platform for the green technology industry in Southwest China, with the support of the Sichuan Environmental Protection Industry Association, one of the most important industry associations in the Sichuan province.

Waste management, water management, clean air, environmental efficiency and remediation were the main issues that CDEPE 2019 covered from a global point of view, with the involvement of the major Chinese and Italian institutions.

Redesigning industrial products and processes, therefore, adopting the principles of the circular economy, is a theme for modern manufacturing, green and efficient cities, for the redevelopment of polluted sites and the management of water resources. CDEPE also presented real case studies and examples of companies, cities and institutions that have already adopted the principles of the circular economy.

Concepts highlighted at the opening by the Sichuan Environmental Protection Industry Association, featured speeches by Francesco La Camera, Director-General of the Italian Ministry for Environment, Land and Sea and newly appointed director-general of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), Davide Castellani, Vice Consul General of Italy in Chongqing, who met with exhibitors and participated in various meetings during the opening day.

Among the culminating events of this edition, the China Ecology and Environment Forum attracted the attention of the sector’s experts. Organized with the support of the Italian Ministry for the Environment and Land and Sea Protection and the support of Italy’s Consulate General in Chongqing, it highlighted the topic of “Economic Development and Protection of Environment and Ecology along large river basins - Yantze River” (the Yangtze river, the third longest in the world, has led China’s economy throughout its history).

Chengdu Environmental Protection EXPO, the exhibition dedicated to the green economy will return to Chengdu from 26 to 28 March 2020.
