ECOMONDO 2025
Ecomondo is set to once again become the international benchmark for ecological transition and the circular economy. The 28th edition promises to exceed expectations with a program filled with new features, innovative projects, and invaluable opportunities for companies, start-ups, researchers, innovators, and policymakers.
The national context in which Ecomondo takes place is thriving. Of the approximately 14.7 million tonnes of packaging released for consumption, more than 10.5 million tonnes have been successfully recycled. Italy stands out not only for the volume of materials recycled but also for the economic efficiency of the process, managing to recycle at costs lower than the European average. Additionally, Italy has reduced CO₂ emissions by more than 6%, making it a leader in the circular economy, generating 3.6 euros of GDP for every kilogram of resource consumed. Furthermore, over 44% of electricity produced in Italy comes from renewable sources, and there is a growing national emphasis on organic production. However, challenges remain, including the ongoing increase in land consumption and the pursuit of sustainable mobility.
Even in 2025, innovation and sustainability must serve an increasingly circular future on every side of the event, keeping as a goal the fight against climate change that increasingly calls for a great deal of monitoring, forecasting, intervention, recovery, and prevention for the administrations of the territories and the companies in charge.
