Stefano Ciafani
President of Legambiente Italian Environmental Association
Environmental engineer, Stefano Ciafani has been the national president of Legambiente since 2018. He began his history in Legambiente in 1998 through his civil service, was its scientific officer from 2006 to 2011, vice president from 2011 to 2015, and director general from 2015 to 2018. He is a member of the Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility Policy Council established at the Ministry and of the Scientific Committee of Ecomondo, the Rimini fair on green technologies and sustainable development.
● He was a member of the National Coordination of the Third Sector Forum from 2018 to 2021.
● He was a consultant to the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry on the Waste Cycle in the 14th Legislature and a member of the Steering Committee on the Management of Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment at the Ministry of the Environment.
● He was a member of the 'Mafias and the Environment' Working Group of the States General for the fight against organized crime promoted in 2017 by the Ministry of Justice and Scientific Committee of the Observatory for Regulatory Analysis of the State Forestry Corps.
● He was a member of the Steering Committee of Chimica Verde Bionet and the Steering Committee of RemTech, the Ferrara fair on contaminated site remediation.
● He is co-author of the following books by Legambiente: “Bioeconomy,” 2015, Edizioni Ambiente; “Ecogiustizia è fatto,” 2015, La Biblioteca del Cigno; “Rifiuti Made in Italy,” 2009, Edizioni Ambiente; “Exit from oil,” 2003, Edizioni Le Balze; “Rapporto Ecomafia,” 2003-2021, Edizioni Ambiente, Simone Editore, Marotta & Cafiero Editori. Author of numerous publications on circular economy, industrial pollution, remediation of polluted sites, air, water, energy, nuclear, asbestos, ecoreati and ecomafia.
● Professor in masters, seminars and training courses organized by private and public entities, including the Scuola Superiore della Magistratura, the Ordine dei giornalisti di Roma, Fondazione Treccani Cultura and La Strada degli Scrittori.
