Giuseppe Bortone
Since 2016 he has been Director general of Arpae, the regional agency which carries out activities relating to environmental monitoring, control and surveillance, laboratory analyzes, authorizations and concessions in the environmental and energy field.
He is coordinator of environment/health issues and activities related to the "Network of accredited laboratories" within the Council of the Italian National System for Environmental Protection (Snpa).
He is president of the Italian Association of regional and provincial agencies for environmental protection (AssoArpa).
He is a representative for the environment/health issue for Eionet network (European Environment Information and Observation Network) of the European Environment Agency.
He was responsible for the Water Protection and Rehabilitation Service and later Director General for Environment, Soil and Coastal Defense of the Emilia-Romagna Region.
He was responsible for the “Wastewater purification and water cycle" section of Enea (Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development) in Bologna, where he carried out studies and research activities on innovative biological and chemical/physical treatments of wastewater, removal of nutrients, treatment of organic waste, groundwater and polluted soils.
He is the author of scientific publications in the field of water treatment and remediation of contaminated soils and sediments and of several articles in magazines in the environmental sector.
