Nicola Moraci

Graduated in Civil Hydraulic Engineering issued from Padua University in the year 1988, he gets his Postgraduate Diploma in Geotechnical Engineering (1988) and the PhD in Geotechnical Engineering (1992).
Since 28 December 2015 he is full Professor of Geotechnical Engineering at the Department of Civil, Energy, Environment and Materials Engineering (DICEAM) of the Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria and he is Manager of scientific and educational Geotechnics laboratory since 2004. At the same university he is Pro-
Rector for Scientific Research since 1 December 2018. He is also President of the Italian Geotechnical Association since 2015.
He was Dean of the DICEAM from 2012 to 2018, Member of the Academic Senate from 2013 to 2018 and Board of Directors Member from 2006 to 2012, Director of the II level Master in Environmental Engineering – Environmental Protection from 2004 to 2006, Director of the II level biennial Master in “Research specialists of new technologies for environmental and territory protection” within the Project PON01_01869TEMADITUTELA from 2012 to 2015, Head of Ph.D. School in Geotechnical Engineering from 2004 to 2007, Head of Ph.D. School in Geotechnical Engineering and Materials Chemistry from 2008 to 2014, Member of the Scientific Committee of the University since 2008, Scientific manager of the library of the DICEAM from 2004 to 2007.
The research activity, documented in more than 200 scientific publications mostly presented at National and International Journals and Conferences, mainly concerns the soil reinforcement with geosynthetics, geotextile filters, environmental geotechnics (landfills and remediation of contaminated sites), landslides and slope stability, in situ tests, use of new materials for geotechnical and environmental engineering; shallow and deep foundations.
