Dr. Gabriella Scipione leads the "HPC Data Management and Data Analytics" division at CINECA, focusing on HPC, big data management in cloud environments, data analysis, and custom applications for scientific data visualization. She has coordinated numerous European and Italian HPC projects in fields like weather, climate, biodiversity, environmental sciences, life sciences, and digital humanities. Gabriella played a key role in Italy's successful AI Factory Expression of Interest (November 2024) and coordinated the Leonardo EuroHPC supercomputer proposal (2018), securing Italy's bid to host the pre-exascale EuroHPC system at Tecnopolo di Bologna. She also works on implementing digital twins in sectors like climate, biodiversity, and cultural heritage. Currently, she leads Leonardo HPC initiatives at CINECA and serves as Principal Investigator for several projects funded by ECMWF for Destination Earth and GLORI (Global to Regional ICON Digital Twin). Since 2022, Gabriella has been a member of the EuroHPC Infrastructural Advisory Board. Recently, she began coordinating the CINECA team supporting the AI and large language model (LLM) research communities, while also overseeing AI for Science activities.
