During 2024, the Regulatory Authority's action in the waste sector moved along two converging lines: on the one hand, the Authority launched a procedure for the development of directives for the accounting and administrative separation of business which, through a correct disaggregation of costs, lays the foundations for transferring an increasingly precise price signal to users; on the other hand, the Authority has started a review of the fees regulation, intervening on the criteria for dividing tariff revenues between household and non-household users, also encouraging the gradual transition to a pay-as-you-throw system. The Authority's organic intervention aims to introduce pricing systems that provide adequate price signals to users, in compliance with the "pay-as-you-throw" principle, with positive effects also in terms of waste prevention. The conference aims to compare the different (institutional, industrial, public, private) stakeholder’s points of view in order to analyze the effect of recent regulatory interventions on the operational activity of waste management operators.
