Vincenza Faraco

Prof. Vincenza Faraco (born 12/30/1972) graduated with honors in Chemistry, specialization in Biological Chemistry, at the University of Naples "Federico II" in 1997 and received her research doctorate in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology University of Naples "Federico II" in 2003.

From 2004 to 2014 she was Researcher of Chemistry and Biotechnology of Fermentations at the University of Naples "Federico II".

In June 2014 he received the direct call to Professor of Chemistry and Biotechnology of Fermentation at the Department of Chemical Sciences of Federico II pursuant to article 1, paragraph 9, of Law n.230‐2005 and ss.mm .ii. (as it was the winner in the context of specific high qualification research programs identified with the decree of the Minister of Education, University and Research of 1 July 2011 (Annex 2), implementing the provisions of the art. 29, paragraph 7, law No. 240 of December 30, 2010)

He teaches Biotechnology of Fermentation, for the Degree Course in Biomolecular and Industrial Biotechnology and Environmental Biotechnology of the Master of Science in Molecular and Industrial Biotechnology of the Federico II.

For about 20 years, it has been dealing with research mainly in the field of green chemistry, that is, a chemistry that respects the environment, and industrial biotechnologies, which adopt eco-compatible transformations carried out by microorganisms or their parts for industrial purposes for sustainable development.

In order to increase everyone's knowledge of the opportunities that chemistry offers for sustainable development, Vincenza Faraco was a full member of the ChemRAWN CHEMical Research Applied to World Needs committee (http://www.iupac.org/web/ins/ 021) of IUPAC International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry, aimed at spreading the knowledge of chemistry and improving its applications to meet the needs of society.

Since 2014 he is a member of the L.U.P.T. "RAFFAELE D'AMBROSIO", University of Naples Federico II, from 2016 is director of the Section 'European Research Area and Europlanning' of the Europe Direct Center LUPT "Maria Scognamiglio" of the University of Naples Federico II (SEREN) , which aims to increase the funding opportunities of the European Commission for the University of Frederick II, fostering cooperation, internationalization and the involvement of stakeholders, both public and private, of the territory (www.edlupt.eu/ seren-progettieuropei)

With the aim of increasing the spread of green chemistry and contributing to the promotion of science and environmental protection, Vincenza Faraco has designed CIAK SI SCIENZA, the green channel of the Federico II, in order to carry out: Information and dissemination both through traditional media that new digital media on relevant scientific and technological news, including mainly environmental problems and viable solutions; green training; support to companies for improving the sustainability of production and business organization; Promotion of green companies; Promotion of technology transfer and internationalization; Activities at schools and universities; Organization of events in synergy with other forms of knowledge, artistic and cultural, and social promotion.
