The workshop is organised by the REPurpose project - Innovative recyclable elastomeric polymers from post-consumer waste recycling. Funded by the European Union within the Horizon Europe programme, the project upcycle local, post-consumer waste to new functional recyclable elastomeric polymers (REP) targeting the high-value market of thermoplastic elastomers, with applications in the automotive sector, building and construction, and consumer goods. The project will integrate new building blocks derived from biomass or enzymatically degraded plastic and organic waste to deliver REPs with unique features, such as tuneable elastomeric properties without the need for additives, controllable degradation in different habitats, and unprecedented indefinite recycling. The purpose of the workshop is, then, to present the REPurpose project in general and some specific results obtained from several consortium partners. The workshop will also host speeches from outside the consortium, under the same theme of "Sustainable Polymers Value Chains”. The purpose of hosting external speakers is the one to present additional approaches to R&D on sustainable polymers, such as those of our “sister projects” (meaning similar projects funded under the same EU call), as well as best practices from companies in the business.
